About Birmingham's Bid

Birmingham is a big city. It has a big reputation, a big and diverse population and it has a very big heart. We wanted our bid for UK City of Culture to reflect this scale, variety and sense of local community, so we called our proposal Birmingham Culture.

Culture on Your Doorstep
UK City of Culture is as much about activities in local neighbourhoods as it is about the big celebrations in the City centre. There are some very talented people in your local community and we want to make it possible for you to see them in action and get involved! 
We have started to collect ideas to make sure a UK City of Culture in 2013 is full of things that the people of Birmingham want to do. Throughout the next three years there will be an online dialogue, between individuals, community groups and arts organisations to discuss and develop the ideas.
